Next James Bond film “Spectre” seen boosting interest in first editions

loveanddieThe eagerly anticipated release of the next James Bond film, “Spectre”, later this year is expected to sharpen interest in first edition James Bond novels, which are available at Peter Harrington Rare Books.

The Bond titles currently in stock at Peter Harrington include a complete set of the Bond novels and stories (1953-66), first editions, first impressions, for 17,500 pounds; a first edition, first impression of “Live and Let Die” (1954), in the first issue jacket, for 17,500 pounds; and a first edition, first impression “Moonraker” (1955), for 12,500 pounds.

Fleming published his first James Bond novel, “Casino Royale” in 1953. It was a success, and Fleming wrote a new book each year until his untimely death in 1964.

Fourteen Bond books were published in total, with the final two, The Man with the Golden Gun and Octopussy, published posthumously in 1965 and 1966 respectively.

Only one signed limited edition of a Fleming novel was published, an edition of 250 copies of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
