September 21, 2016 – Footfall and enquiries were brisk at this year’s Decorex, where Chelsea Cross members Beaumont & Fletcher and Julian Chichester joined a variety of exhibitors from around the world showcasing their latest stock, including two remarkable and very distinct sofas.
Beaumont & Fletcher presented their Georgian-style Clarence sofa in Pompeian red, stuffed with horsehair, cotton and coconut fibre, made with a solid beech frame, and bedecked in luxury cushions. Style and comfort combined in an unusual classic contemporary design with strong elegant lines and great comfort in equal measure.
Beaumont & Fletcher also presented a range of sumptuous fabrics inspired by Art Deco designs. Director Jana Durisova spoke of plans to launch an Art Deco design cushion collection in the coming months.
In a sharply contrasting look, Julian Chichester attracted a lot of buzz with an eye-catching green sofa at the heart of its stand inspired by early 1960s Italian style.
Remarkable finishes were a strong feature of the eclectic mix of furniture at the Julian Chichester stand, including gesso, vellum, and aged brass.
Julian Chichester, exhibiting at the show for the 24th straight year, said much of the importance of the event was as a networking opportunity for designers to meet exhibitors.
French and Italian exhibitors were also out in force at Decorex this year, with Atelier Alain Ellouz, the world specialist in the implementation of backlit alabaster for architectural projects, who is based near Versailles, exhibiting chairs from Chelsea Cross member PHILIPPE HUREL at his stand.
William Yeoward presented his new rug collection in wool and silk, some of them inspired by European designs of the past and adding a bright and fresh, contemporary twist to home design.
